All Pretty'd Up

5 days and 3 glue sticks later...
here she is.
(did you get to Dollar Tree in time to get some of these beauties?)
I just put her on the door for a photo shoot. I think it's a little early for Christmas decorations... maybe in a few weeks... er days... I'm feeling kinda anxious this year.
Out of curiosity...
When do YOU put up your Christmas Tree/ decorations??

  1. As soon as possible!!! I love christmas.....everyone seems a little kinder and little more patient.....why wouldn't we want to stretch that out!! The world is just a nicer place around this season. I love the wreath.....I'm just in the process of making this myself!!

  4. Yes! I found them at Dollar Tree!!!!! Question! How many "tubes" of ornaments do I purchase to get a full-looking wreath like you have made?

    Thanks!

  5. I usually decorate pretty early, but, now...while it is going to be a whopping 94 degrees outside, I am inside putting up my nativity scenes. My daughter is due in the next few weeks and I get to go and take care of the other kiddos while she is in the hospital, so all must be done asap. Love the wreath! It is just stunning!

  6. It looks great!! I think I will have to put this on my crafting list.

I wait until after Thanksgiving to put up Christmas decor. Sometimes it happens right after, sometimes not. I think this year it will be the first weekend in Dec.

  7. My jaw just dropped.

That is GORGEOUS. I LOVE it. Something that pretty shouldn't have to wait to be put out. Do it. :)

  8. The day after Thanksgiving. Although, there is a small Santa that hangs in my kitchen year-round for Jaycey...she also has a "Santa Lives" block in her room all the time. :)

  9. We usually do the day after Thanksgiving. I would love to have a room that is done year round but with kids it is too hard.

  10. i'm crossing my fingers that there will be some left when i go on thursday! can't wait to try this--gorgeous!

i try to wait until the weekend of thanksgiving...but sometimes things creep out before that!

  11. I love the holidays and start listening to Christmas music after Halloween, but I wait until the day after Thanksgiving to put up the decorations...don't want to disrespect Thanksgiving you know :)
I nearly died when I read your wreath had broken. Are you worried about it hitting the door and breaking as the kids come and go??? I think mine would have to be plastic :)

  12. You must be good with glue sticks because I would have used about 30!!!
    It turned out gorgeous!!

I wait until the day after Thanksgiving to get out my Christmas stuff :)

  13. its so BEAUTIFUL... LURRRVE IT! I am going to have to make one. ESPECIALLY if the dollar tree carries the ornaments. P.S. I have some Thanksgiving Harvest decor up now (soon to be on my blog in a post) but I put up my Christmas the day after Thanksgiving. Last year I put up my tree two days before Thanksgiving to enjoy it on Turkey day, as well as have it out of the way, so all the was left was the cute Christmas decor to be added.

  14. I put my decorations up the weekend before Thanksgiving. I think it's fun to have everything out to enjoy on Thanksgiving.

  15. It looks gorgeous!
I'm itching to get those decorations up, too...

I usually put them up the weekend before Thanksgiving.

  16. I love this wreath! I think I will attempt one myself.
I decorate right after Thanksgiving. I didn't put any decorations out last year because I was in the last tri of my pregnancy and felt like there were too many other things to worry about. This year, though, I am so excited about decorating with my baby girl!

  17. I am also curious....how many tubes of ornaments did you use? I usuallly decorate the week after Thanksgiving. I would like to do it sooner...but things are a little crazy with family in town & BLACK FRIDAY. :)

  18. i still need to make a trip to the dollar store to make this super cute wreath! as for when i put up the decoractions...i would have put them up yesterday but i try to stay as patient as possible and they go up thanksgiving night! my husband loves to go through storage after feasting on turkey and such all day! ;)

  20. I absolutely love your wreath. I have been wanting to make one of these for years. I guess this year will be the year I make. Thanks to Eddie Ross for showing us how. We usually put our Christmas decor two weeks before and leave it up til Jan 6th the feast of the Three Kings.

  21. I started making one today, but I need more ornaments so it'll have to wait until tomorrow to finish. I did get the DT ornaments, but as the metal loops weren't wide enough to slip over a coat hanger, I just used the attached strings and tied them with double knots to the coat hanger, then cut the strings short with scissors. No glue gun needed! It looks beautiful so far! I used all silver and blue ornaments, and bought some pretty blue ribbon to make a wide bow when it's done. Gorgeous!

  22. I'm waiting to decorate for Christmas until after Thanksgiving and we don't put up a tree until Dec 13th because for one it's my birthday, and two because we do a live tree. If we put it up before it would die and be a fire hazard!

  23. Kathryn, it's Emily (Melissa's sil). :) This is SUCH a beautiful wreath! I love the idea and will be on the look out for some all-a-dollar ornaments like these! GOOD JOB!!!

  24. The day after Thanksgiving and no sooner. I hate the thought of going straight from Halloween to Christmas. Love the wreath and all the other ideas you two share. Thanks!!!

  25. I start after everyone leaves on Thanksgiving night, or the very next day at the latest and I take it ALL down the day AFTER Christmas!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Loved this wreath! I start the day after Thanksgiving usually. My birthday always falls a couples days (or sometimes on) around Thanksgiving so I can never miss the holiday. It is such an important one that sometimes gets overlooked. The colors/decorations for it are some of my favorite. I also take down my christmas decorations the day after. Can't have it around much longer after that.

  27. I got my ornaments and can't wait to make it! I usually put mine up Thanksgiving weekend, but I am due Dec 7 this year and want to have everything up and ready in case the baby comes early, so I will probably do it in the next week or 2.

  28. We put ours up right after Thanksgiving!!

I put up Christmas decorations the weekend after Thanksgiving.

  33. Luuuve this wreath!! What'd you use the 3 glue sticks for?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Bought my ornaments today and made the wreath tonight while watching So You Think You Can Dance! Mine doesn't seem quite as full as yours but I'm loving it anyway. http://twitpic.com/o7w1t

Thank you, thank you for the inspiration and the head's up on how to do it on the cheap!

  35. I love it and yes I went on Saturday and got my ornaments. I start decorating after Thanksgiving. Dear hubby doesn't let me decorate or listen to Christmas music before then.

  36. Hi Friends, just an update. I used 12 packs of the large balls (5 in each pack) and 3 packs of the little balls (10 balls in each pack). I used a pattern of 2 large then one small. And the only reason I used a hot glue gun was because I DROPPED IT and a bunch of the balls popped off! AGH! So I fixed it back up with the hot glue
    Hope that helps!

  37. The wreath looks great! I usually put out the Christmas decor the weekend after Thanksgiving if we don't have anything else going on.

  38. Love it looks great! We put our Christmas Tree and decorations on the 1st of December.

  39. I love the wreath! How easy to make. I'm going to the dollar tree tomorrow--if you haven't bought them all! We always put our tree/decos up the day after Thanksgiving. But, we always have a big Dinner at my house and it would be kinda weird to be celebrating Thanksgiving in front of our Christmas tree!

  40. Oh I love this!! I just may have to make one of these myself. We put up our decorations the day after Thanksgiving. I think I may put them up early this year though.

  41. I usually close myself in the day after Thanksgiving to decorate, however this year I am going to begin the weekend before - but exactly what I will do is already on my mind!

  44. That Eddie Ross wreath is on my list of things to do too. I was looking for vintage ornaments like his, but now that I see yours, I will go to DT and see if I can get the ones like you have. Very pretty!

  45. My decorations go up right after Thanksgiving. :) LOVE the wreath...I might head on over to the dollar store and pick me up some of these beautiful bulbs! I love them!

  46. LOVE the wreath. Thank you for clarifying how many you used. My DT is JUST now putting out the ornaments so good to know how many.
Did you also glue some to the outside or did they all go onto the wire hanger?
I'm thinking of also making one for the school wreath raffle. THanks for the inspiration.

  57. THis is my first time to your site. You have some great ideas! This is the first year we are going to have decorations (sad I know!) But we are going to put them up the weekend after Thanksgiving.

  58. I saw that cute ornament wreath and HAD to make it. I did last night and it turned out really cute. Thanks for the idea!

I usually put up my christmas on Thanksgiving day, but for some reason, I am a lot more in the Christmas spirit this year. Against my husbands wishes, I think I am going to put it up next weekend!

P.S. I love your blog! Thanks for sharing all of your fun ideas!

  59. I LOVE your blog. This is the first time I have visited. I like to start decorating the day after Thanksgiving. I've already started though for this year due to some surgery I'm having soon. Want it done so I can rest and enjoy the Christmas season.

  62. my dollar store had Jingle bells! They were smaller so I had to buy a few more, but I LOVE how it turned out! Now my door jingles everytime it's opened. There's just something about that sound that says Christmas to me! Thanks for the idea!
