BEFORE, literally
AFTER
I want to put up a little roof face that comes out of the wall with wood shingles eventually but that is at the bottom of a long list of things to do so we'll see. Until then I think this iron piece gives it the shape of a rooftop.
Remember, I am just learning (notice I didn't say "can't", baby steps people) how to sew. These curtains are actually placemats I found and loved the colors so I just folded over one side and made a seam for the curtain rod.
This window is perfect for puppet shows too!
Here is the inside of the playhouse.
See the artwork display in the back? Just a 1x4 piece of painted wood with clips mounted on it.
Easy!
Remember the silly lady that sold me a dresser for $5? She also sold me this gold framed mirror for $3... I love that silly lady.
I spray painted it with a high gloss turquoise and put the kid's "dress-up" clothes next to it.
I swore years ago that I would never paint anything orange in my house...
You should never swear. ;)heehee
So there you have it. Our new playhouse.
P.S. Literally 5 seconds after I took these pictures my two-year-old came through and destroyed all of my "staging" efforts. Real life at our house is NeVEr this clean. ;0

I am soooo in LOVE with this! What a fun awesome thing to have! Plus to do it all yourself, you are a couple of extremely talented people!
Traci's SIL built an awning out of fabric... it might be cute for there. If your intersted I can dig up the photo

Very cute! We need something like this in our house.
Wow! This is incredible. I love everything about it! But maybe the turquoise mirror is my favorite! I only wish I was creative enough to think of things like that on my own...but for now, I'll just have to copy you. :-)
Awww, this is sooo adorable!
Wooooowwwwwww!!!! I love, love, love it! My favorite part is the entrance. (Well, I love everything) It's so cute!!!!!
I am SO in love with this! Adorable!
You are amazing! I LOVE the welcome sign. Hope all is going well and that you all are having a beautiful summer!
Holy crap this is CUTE!
That is too cute...My kids (9 and 12) would still love to have a little place like this...
Love the staging...
What a great little play house for your kids. The best part is that they can use it year round. Way to go!
How fun! You are such a great mom to create such a fun playroom for your kids.
Way cute! Love the colors. Every kid should have something like that! Can't believe your honey did that by himself while doing residency stuff. BUSY guy! What's next on his "honey do" list?! LOL!
It is fabulous! What a fun little space for the kidlets to play. I love your vinyl welcome sign. So cute!
good job! I like it! I wonder if I have any hidden spaces that I could use...????
love it, so cute and fun! The shingled overbuild/porch cap is easier than you think, check out our work at http://beehivestatebuilders.blogspot.com/2008/09/basement-playroom.html we designed it and did MOST of the work ourselves, but I cheated a little since my husband is a general contractor and framer by trade :) And NEVER say never, I have a terra cotta orange office, I am not a fan of orange, but I LOOOOVEE my office color!
Love it! Y'all did a great job!
Seriously so cute! I'm jealous. I would love to have one of these in my house. You couldn't have done a better job.
It is beautiful and so fun for your kids!!
Great job on being creative for the curtains- they work perfectly!!
I am so glad you added in that your kids had destroyed how perfect everything looked. I was begining to think something was wrong with my kids. Our playhouse is under the stairs and my kids just try to see how much stuff they can cram into it.
Yours looks great!
That is so cute!! I love the curtains...what a great idea!!
Amazing! I'm speechless!
How COOL is that?! Can you stand up in there? Oh, what a wonderful gift for your kids. It will be an amazing memory for them. When we finish our basement, I'm hoping to do something similar (on a smaller scale) under our stairs.
Totally cute!!!! Love it! The window with the curtain and the door with the welcome sign are just the cutest finishing touches! Adorable!
Very cute and a great use of space. Lucky kids!

The outside is so charming with the vinyl stickers and I love the 'staging.'

You have done such a great job- love the orange, and window curtains, and welcome stencil! I would buy your house just for this room ;)... I should say, I KNOW someone will be lucky to have your home!

This is fabulous, the new playhouse would be also wonderful under a large stairwell. I love it you guys did a wonderful job. What fun.
All I can say is YOUR HUSBAND IS SO AWESOME!! He did this for you!! Jon wouldn't let me put a "PlayHouse" in the closet under the stairs... Keep Trevor.
Aww, how adorable...and the wrought iron is perfect. An Awning will be perfect, too, and I bet it will be pretty easy especially after these examples offered.

This is so Awesome! I love it all, what fun for your little ones! Love the orange!
What a great use of that space! I bet the kids love it, I know I would love to have that!!! Orange is a great color, glad you chose it, so fun and unexpected.

That is A.MAZ.ING. Kimba sent me, and I have to say, she was right about it making me want to bash holes in my walls!
I'm so glad you broke your "no orange" rule, Ilove it!
This room is adorable. Wish I had a bonus room!
It's gorgeous. What a great job!!
Wow that is amazing! Does the attic connect to another room upstairs or do you have pull down stairs or regular stairs to get there?
So adorable! What a great job you did. The kids must be crazy for their new space.
~Michelle
Hey girl! I thought that I should stop in and let you know that I included your unbelievable playroom in my linky love post on Friday.

This is so great! My two little girls would think they were dreaming if they saw this! :) I am going to tuck this away for the day that we have a house of our own (and hopefully our children will still be little enough to appreciate it!).
So cute! I found you through ASPTL but I know that I will be back often! I've added you to my blog reader. I found myself clicking back through a lot of your old posts and loved all of your creative ideas!
That is so funny. I just went to a bunch of garage sales last Saturday and bought two 22"x28" gold picture frames (with pictures inside) for $5. At another place I bought an old dresser and little shelving unit for $2. I love it when I come across crazy people too.
I turned one of the frames into a framed french board.
Check it out at www.pebblesandpoppys.blogspot.com.
It turned out pretty cute.
I absolutely love that little room. Oh to have that kind of room.
That is incredible! What a great use of the space for your children! I saw your feature on TCB. Congratulations!
Love this! I'm putting it on my blog...I love how grown up everything looks. I'm sure your kids love it too!
Oh, wow! Gorgeous playspace! Love it! I can't imagine how much fun my kids would have in something like that! Thanks for sharing!
WOW that is so cute! And Impressive.
It's not "rot iron" it's "wrought iron"
A friend just sent me your link and I just had to comment that your playhouse is just TOO darn cute!! Love it!
Creating by Cami just put my playhouse on her "someday" list and I saw your link there too so I thought I'd better come check it out. It is so-so-so cute. If you would like to see mine it's here:http://sawdustandpaperscraps.blogspot.com/2010/03/playhouse-closet.html
I love that you made a playhouse - but what I really admire is the uniqueness of it's location, or build...a little hidey-hole turned into a cute little play area...your child is going to look back someday at the little hole in a wall leading to her own little "home" and remember it as magical.
