I've been feeling (for several months now) that our house was missing something.
Something important to me... and everyone else living in this house.
Something I wanted to be able to see daily and something that those around me could see and enjoy and hopefully feel something inside.
A few weeks ago I found the something in the back corner of Lowes by the garden hoses and yard gnomes that are covered in dust
and I bought it and I rushed home to open it
and carefully... reverently hang it up.
I love this country.
Hanging this flag is my way of saying...
I am grateful
for God
for freedom
for our founding fathers
for those who have lost their lives to protect those freedoms
It is also my way of saying...
I am here
I have a vote
I can make a difference
I will stand for what is right and true and good.
I will fight for my family, my religion, my values... for the USA I know and love.
I am an American.
So join me. Accessorize ;) your house with something that matters.
Hang a flag and make your own statement.

We just moved and haven't put up our flag yet, but I miss it!
My sister just had a full size flag pole installed in her front yard. It looks GORGEOUS!
As a military wife it is so nice to see that people do care and are grateful. It makes having to be a single mom to three kids and giving birth to our fourth while he was gone worth while. I wish more people appreciated the sacrifices we make, all military families make!!! So Thank You for realizing what you have and why you have it and not taking it for granted!!

My husband and I were married on Sept. 8, 2001 and we opened our gifts on Sept.11, 2001 after moving into our first home together. The best wedding gift we received, and one I would never had thought to give, came from his aunt. It was an American flag. We promptly went outside to install it on our house. Do you how hard it was to find a flag after 9-11? They sold out pretty darn fast. Thank you for this post. I have lots of family who have served and are serving our country now. I'm grateful for the freedoms I have thanks to them and the sacrifices their families have made.

Ah..your post took my breath away. Exactly how I feel. I got a huge flag years ago I purchased in D.C. but it is still in the box. I'm too afraid to take it out & do anything with it....it's so precious.
I am also a military wife who has a hubby who will be deploying in a matter of weeks. We are so lucky to be in a free country. I have a flag hanger, but no flag. As soon as the snow stops..I will be getting a flag & hanging it proudly!
Thank you from a Military Wife. My husband has been deployed one too many times. We love our country and are always proud to serve and to see other people's homes displaying Old Glory. Its such a beautiful flag.
We are the only people in our entire neighborhood who put up the American flag-- it's kind of sad, but we are proud to have it up every day!

I can definitely relate to this. Last year, when my brother and I were shopping for things for our newly built house, we've already gone through all of the stores but we still felt that we forgot something. Everything on the checklist was already done, but the feeling was still there. Upon arriving home, I sat by the porch to think hard about it.
After some time, I realized that we didn't buy a flag. So, first thing the next morning, we searched for an online shop. Flags should be present in every American home, don't you think? Good thing those patriotic objects are now easy to shop. Flags can be found almost everywhere, unlike before.
