Ornament Wreath

I saw this beauty last year on Eddie Ross and put it on the "to-do" list.

A few weeks ago Melissa and I found these beautiful ornaments at... get this...
The Dollar Tree!
Seriously, go there today and buy them before they are all gone!
(this is why we crafters have to plan ahead!)

I followed this tutorial and it was looking SO PRETTY! I went to hang it up on the door and take a picture to share with you when I slipped and ...
Dr
opped it!

Half of the balls broke off and I screamed and tried not to cry.

So if you'll excuse me... I have a date with my hot glue gun.

OH NO! That's sad, good thing you made it so you know how to fix it! I think I'll be making a trip to our local dollar tree and see what I can find. I just love it!

Oh, my goodness...how very sad! So you have to take all off and restring on, huh! Hang in there. I am sure it is just stunning. I can't wait to get to dollar tree to do mine...It was 80 ornaments, right? Or, maybe a few more, in case of mishaps!

Oh no! Dontcha hate it when stuff like that happens? I'm sure you can fix it right up though!

Those really are pretty ornaments! I cant wait to get to my dollar tree to see if they have some too since now I want to make my own.

THAT is SO sad...and it looks so pretty. I love how ornaments can be used for so many things, besides hanging on a tree. I saw some fall colored ones made into a chandelier light fixture thing on "myles of style" awhile back...so cool! Hope you get yours all fixed up!

Oh no!!! The little bit that you showed turned out beautifully. I'd love to do something like this but I may need to find ornaments of the plastic kind :) My clumsiness combined with 2 young children don't exactly make a good environment for such lovliness!

I think I may need to make a trip to the Dollar Tree today. This is a such a simple thing that looks great. I may have to hit up a dry cleaners to get a wire hanger though (don't have any around the house).

Thanks for sharing.

Oh I LOVE IT! The colors you picked out are so wonderful! I'm totally going to the dollar tree! I've had in mind to make one of those for 2 years now and have never done it! This year will be my year :-)

I saw those ornaments at the dollar tree just yesterday, but it didn't even cross my mind to make a wreath! Thanks so much for sharing! I am filing this idea away at thecraftersfilebox.blogspot.com.

Thanks for the heads up about the dollar tree. Your wreath is gorgeous! I hope it recovered.

PS, I just found your blog and adore it!

That sucks, looks pretty though. My mom just broke her thumb hanging her wreath on her door (she fell too) I think I'll obstain from having a wreath this year...it's dangerous!!!

Oh no! I'm so disappointed for you! I have a similar story that involves a wreath full of approximately 75 daisies, a burst of wind, and a chandelier. It was not. pretty. I posted about it last year, and I STILL think about it! From what I can tell, your wreath was amazing!!

Melissa said...

Oh Kathryn,
I am so sorry! After all that work... AUGH!!! I still need to take mine apart and start over, I went and got some more small bulb. Hmmm... maybe this weekend?

eddieross said...

OMG I have to go to the Dollar Tree right now! Looks amazing! Can't wait to see the finished wreath. Annie, get your glue gun!

It looked really pretty and will again. Now when it's done and hung up and people comment on how nice it is, you have a good story to go along with it!

they were out of wreaths too and I so wanted to make it today but I had to get kids from school

Hi Friends, just an update. I used 12 packs of the large balls (5 in each pack) and 3 packs of the little balls (10 balls in each pack). I used a pattern of 2 large then one small.
Hope that helps!

I have always wanted to make that kind of wreath....what a total bummer that some broke :( It will still be beautiful once you fix it.

Hey I having my first giveaway today...a set of 12 berry wreath napkin rings in either red or white. Come on by and take a peek.

Good luck finishing your beautiful wreath.

It seemed like all the ornaments at my Dollar Tree had very obvious seam lines. Are they pretty unnoticeable once it's assembled? I'd love to see a broader shot of your wreath (when it's repaired ;) to get a sense of how it all comes together.

Thankfully they weren't expensive ornaments, but still that sucks that you dropped it. DANG!

Chin up!

I hate it when that happens! Craft related meltdowns are the worst...and send my husband running lol.
I love your wreath though and thank you for the idea! I live where it rains too much to have anything dainty hanging from my door. This would be perfect! And what a score finding the ornaments at the dollar store!

Oh NO!!! It looked sooo beautiful!! We don't have dollar tree here in Canada but I'll be scouring them all.

I tried the link to Eddie's site but it brings me to a tutorial to make bats for Halloween. I looked through the site but couldn't find it. Did you keep a copy of it or could you redirect me?

Love your blog. I just found it and I'm hooked.

LOVE the wreath and easy tutorial. Finished it, looks great but can't get it to hang straight. It's curved because of the hanger. How did you do the finishing with the hook etc? Thanks!

I am *so* a day late and a dollar short on this one. I went to the link for the tutorial, and it isn't there anymore! Anyone want to post one? Please? Thank you!
